Boeing Co. plans to boost production of its commercial jets over the next two years, said Philip Condit, executive vice president of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Seattle. Condit, whose responsibilities include jetliner engineering, production and development, said the step-up would be achieved by improving efficiency rather than building new assembly plants or increasing the work force substantially. Production of the 737 twinjet, Boeing’s most popular model with 2,243 sold, would increase to 17 per month from 14 by mid-1990. Production of the mid-sized 757 is slated to go from four a month to five by the middle of next year.
