School Bus Driver Shot in Head by Boy, 10

PORT ARTHUR, Tex. —
A 10-year-old boy shot and critically wounded his school bus driver in the back of the head today, police said.
The driver, Russell Jean Hampton, 40, was hospitalized in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the base of her skull, police said. The bus had completed its morning run and Hampton and the boy were the only people aboard when the shooting took place at 8:20 a.m., they said. It was not known how the boy obtained the handgun.
