Leftists Protest Filipino Treaty on U.S. Bases

MANILA —
Hundreds of leftists burned an American flag outside the U.S. Embassy today to condemn the recent agreement continuing U.S. bases in the country and demand the government refuse to negotiate a new treaty in 1991.
Protesters, representing several labor and student groups, carried banners reading “No to U.S. Bases” and “U.S. Imperialism--Cause of Poverty.”
