Andrew Kalitinsky; Aerospace Executive

Andrew Kalitinsky, 74, retired vice president of General Dynamics Convair and a veteran of atomic energy and aircraft propulsion programs who later in his career was a leader in the Surveyor, Mariner and Voyager space programs. Born in the Soviet Union, Kalitinsky came to the United States after graduating from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. He went to work for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and then during World War II joined the naval intelligence service, where he interrogated many German space engineers at war’s end. He joined General Dynamics in Texas in 1955 and the San Diego operation in 1961. In San Diego of cancer on Oct. 25.
