WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. —
An American cantor who sang recently in Moscow’s main synagogue said he met more enthusiasm there than from any other congregation in his 23 years of conducting Jewish services.
“I have never encountered such love and affection, such crowds in the synagogue,” said cantor Jacob Mendelson of Temple Israel in White Plains.
The visit was sponsored by the American Society for the Advancement of the Cantorial Art of Miami, Fla.
