September Housing Prices Fall in Conejo Valley

The average price of a single-family house in the Conejo Valley fell slightly in September, ending a 5-month streak of consecutive record prices, the Conejo Valley Board of Realtors reported.
The September average price of $288,154 was 3% below the record $295,934 average set in August. Board President Felix Laumann said the decrease in price indicates a drop in demand, particularly for higher-priced houses.
Real estate agents say the autumn months typically create a slowdown in real estate activity because families with children are reluctant to move because of the new school year.
There were 295 single-family houses sold in September compared to 342 in August.
The average price of a condominium in September increased 2% to $149,903 from August. However, sales of condominiums fell to 101 units compared to 134 units in August.
The Conejo realty board reports sales by its members in the area from Agoura Hills to Newbury Park. Its statistics do not include most new residences or homes sold by their owners.
