F.W. Woolworth’s third-quarter income rose 22% from last year to $66 million. Revenue was up 12% to $1.97 billion. The New York-based retailer attributed the results in part to a lower tax rate and an acquisition of shoe stores in West Germany as well as a pending deal in Australia, which would expand worldwide specialty retailing operations.
