Monrovia : Food Giveaway Center
The Monrovia Unity Center has started registering families at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church for food giveaways at Christmas.
Last year, the group directed contributions of food and gifts to about 300 families, center director Josephine Anderson said.
The nonprofit social service agency took up temporary quarters at St. Luke’s Monday. It had been functioning without a permanent home since August, when the Immaculate Conception Church asked the agency to move to make room for church activities.
Anderson, who coordinates food distribution and legal aid to the needy, said St. Luke’s offered her space until Jan 1.
Registration will continue throughout November on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to noon.
