BEIRUT —
An official of the Israeli-allied South Lebanon Army escaped assassination when a bomb exploded near his car, a statement from the militia said Friday.
The statement said the charge went off Thursday as Alameddine Badawi and his bodyguard drove through Hasbayya, a southern village.
The militiamen escaped unharmed but their car was damaged, the statement said.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack, the second attempt against South Lebanon Army officials this week.
