Olson Industries said its loss from continuing operations in the third quarter that ended Sept. 30 was $1.7 million, compared to $666,000 a year earlier.
The Sherman Oaks plastics packaging company said sales rose 4% to $16.5 million in the quarter, mainly because of price increases.
For the 9 months, Olson lost $3.1 million from continuing operations, compared to $823,304 a year earlier. Sales rose 7% to $50.1 million.
Olson has been hurt this year by higher prices for the resins used to make its egg cartons, sandwich trays and other products.
