A massive storm rolled across the Rockies and into the plains, clogging roads with drifting snow in Colorado and hurling a tornado in Missouri that killed one person and injured a dozen others. The effects of the sprawling storm were felt from the Canadian border to the Gulf of Mexico, generating snow from Colorado and Kansas to Minnesota. The storm also spawned winds of 101 m.p.h. at Guadelupe Pass in southwest Texas and twisters in Oklahoma, Iowa, Kansas and Missouri. The storm has been blamed for the deaths of at least six people, including an elderly woman in Missouri whose mobile home was tossed in the air. Up to a foot of snow fell on Colorado’s ski slopes, and a 2-inch snowfall snarled rush-hour traffic in the Denver area and closed schools in at least four counties.
