8 Pilots Indicted for Not Disclosing Drug Abuse

WASHINGTON —
Eight pilots in Colorado and Utah have been indicted for allegedly failing to disclose drug- and alcohol-related convictions when they applied for medical certification from the federal government, the Transportation Department announced.
The indictments were announced Wednesday by Transportation Secretary James H. Burnley IV. The maximum penalties the pilots face if convicted are five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
Burnley’s statement did not indicate whether the pilots worked for commercial airlines.
