Dr. Marcus Rabwin; Ex-Chief of Staff
Marcus H. Rabwin, who in 1927 became the first surgical resident at Los Angeles County General Hospital, died Thursday in San Diego. He was 87 and had been undergoing treatment for leukemia at the University of California’s medical center there.
Rabwin, who in 1931 joined the original staff at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital and was chief of staff there from 1958 to 1962, helped direct the lengthy negotiations that resulted in the merger of Cedars and Mt. Sinai Hospital into Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Marcella; three sons; a daughter; brother; sister, and four grandchildren.
