U.S. Doctors Plan Soviet Visit
A team of American psychiatrists will visit Soviet mental institutions in January to interview psychiatric patients, many of whom the United States considers political prisoners, the State Department said today.
Department spokesman Charles E. Redman said the Administration and the Soviet Union had reached agreement on the visit and that, in return, a team of Soviet psychiatrists will later visit the United States. Redman said the American psychiatrists will examine patients, visit psychiatric hospitals and discuss “topics of law” with their Soviet counterparts.
