Share

The Rolling Hills Estates City Council this week postponed the scheduled selection of a new mayor and mayor pro tem until Dec. 13, when it will certify votes from the Nov. 8 recall election that removed veteran City Councilman Jerome Belsky from office. The office will be declared vacant that evening. The council also will call for a special election to fill the remaining year of Belsky’s term. City Manager Ray Taylor said the staff will recommend March 21 as the election date.

Taylor said the council wanted to take action on the recall matters before choosing new leaders or making appointments to council committees. Belsky did not attend the Tuesday council meeting and has not participated in council activities since the recall election.
