Irvine Ticket Is Lotto Winner

Someone who played “Lotto 6/49” in Irvine won the midweek game’s $14.3-million jackpot but must hold onto the valuable ticket until lottery offices reopen Monday, a spokesman said Thursday.

The winning numbers drawn Wednesday were 4, 7, 11, 27, 31, 39 and the bonus number, 21. A ticket with the six regular numbers and worth $14,332,143 was purchased in Irvine, California Lottery spokesman Jim Hamblin said.

Lottery offices were closed for the Thanksgiving holiday and will remain closed through the weekend. Lottery winners are not known until they come forward with tickets, which are verified at lottery offices.

Seventeen tickets had five numbers and the bonus and are each worth $120,871. There were 502 tickets with five numbers, each paying $2,108, and 25,893 tickets with four numbers, each worth $37. Winning the fixed $5 prizes for three numbers were 413,707 tickets.

Prizes won by players totaled $20,471,742. Sales for the midweek game totaled $19.2 million. Schools will receive $6,544,595 from the game.
