Sinhalese extremists killed three Indian nationals and a Sri Lankan in the group’s first attack against foreigners in Sri Lanka, security officials said. Officials said 25 members of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, or People’s Liberation Front, struck at the home of S. K. Bansal near Moneragala, 100 miles west of Colombo. Bansal, his wife and another Indian were killed along with a Sri Lankan named Sinha Senanayake. The attack was believed to have been staged in retaliation for the killings by security forces of two extremist leaders earlier in the week.
