Arvydas Sabonis, a Soviet basketball player who wants to play for the Portland Trail Blazers, will be allowed to do so only if NBA players are allowed to play for their individual countries in the 1992 Olympics, said Yuri Selikhov, the interim coach of the Soviet national team.

Soviet officials want Sabonis to play on their Olympic team again in 1992.

A ruling on the professional-amateur issue is expected by Olympic basketball officials in April.
