Patrick Goldstein proved a theory I’ve had for years: People will always shout about free speech and “artistic freedom” until their own group is offended.

I wonder how many of the people who put pressure on Warner Bros. Records to prevent the release of Kinison’s album were just a few months ago defending Universal Pictures right to release “The Last Temptation of Christ” over the objections of many religious groups who found the movie offensive.

The argument that was always used in defending the film was that it was “art.” Since when isn’t comedy considered “art?”

I guess the definition of “art” depends on what side of the fence you’re on.
