Steve and Phil Mahre, after 4 years...

Steve and Phil Mahre, after 4 years away from competitive skiing, finished first and third, respectively, in the America’s Opening pro slalom at the Park City Ski Area in Utah.

Lured back to competition by pro racing organizers, the two brothers are scheduled to race in the giant slalom today.

In the slalom final, Steve Mahra beat Tomaz Cerkovnik of Yugoslavia on both runs for first, and Phil easily beat Edvin Halsnes of Norway on the two runs for third.
