Bush Gives Away ‘Foot in His Mouth’
President-elect George Bush, who apparently enjoys trading light-hearted barbs, sent Texas state Treasurer Ann Richards a small silver pin in the shape of a foot, Richards said Monday.
Richards said Bush had sent her the foot-shaped pin and a thank-you note after she had wired him her congratulations on his presidential victory.
The feisty Richards, Texas’ highest female elected official, blistered Bush with a series of one-liners when giving the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention.
The most memorable line in her July 18 speech was: “Poor George, he can’t help it. He was born with a silver foot in his mouth.”
