Sen. Quentin N. Burdick (D-N. D.), who recently underwent colon cancer surgery, was reported in stable condition Monday after apparently suffering an undetermined type of seizure, officials said.

The senator was taken to a hospital Sunday night after his wife called for an ambulance, aide Thomas Stallman said.

Burdick, 80, was admitted to the intensive care unit at St. Luke’s Hospital and underwent brain and heart scans Monday, Stallman said. The brain scan showed no problem, he said, and results of other tests were expected to be released today. Burdick was reelected to the Senate on Nov. 8.
