Duke expected big things from Alaa Abdelnaby, but the Blue Devils expected him to miss once in a while, too.

Abdelnaby extended his field-goal shooting streak to 19 straight baskets while scoring 18 points Wednesday night as top-ranked Duke rolled past East Carolina, 95-46, at Durham, N.C.

“A lot has to do with the guys on the perimeter getting me passes that lead me to the basket,” Abdelnaby said. “All I have to do is catch the ball and read the defense.”

Abdelnaby hit his last 2 shots against Kentucky, 8 more against the Citadel and all 9 shots he took against East Carolina (2-1).

Abdelnaby is within range of the NCAA record of 25 consecutive field goals set by Ray Voelkel of American University in 1978.

The Blue Devils (3-0) also gave Coach Mike Krzyzewski his 250th coaching victory in 14 seasons.

Arizona 80, New Mexico 67--Harvey Mason scored 20 points, 12 on 3-point shots, as the 11th-ranked Wildcats got even for 1 of 3 defeats last season by overpowering the Lobos in their season opener at Tucson.

The Wildcats trailed, 41-37, at halftime, but took the lead for good, 49-47, with 16:21 remaining when Mason hit a 3-pointer.
