Swimmer Mary T. Meagher, whose two individual gold medals from the 1984 Olympic Games were lost in the mail last summer, has received replacements from the U.S. Postal Service.
Bud Tyler, a Postal Service representative, said the replacements cost the Postal Service $270. The original medals were lost after being sent air mail by her parents from Louisville, Ky., to Boca Raton, Fla., where Meagher was attending a meet.
Meagher won the medals at the 1984 Summer Games in Los Angeles for taking the 100- and 200-meter butterfly races.
She won a third gold medal as a member of the 400-meter medley relay team but had it with her.
