“The Tenth Man,” this season’s first “Hallmark Hall of Fame” drama, arrives Sunday at 9 p.m. on CBS (Channels 2 and 8).
Based on the novel by Graham Greene, it’s a story of deception and romance. Anthony Hopkins portrays Jean Louis Chavel, a prosperous lawyer imprisoned during the German occupation of France. Chosen by lot to die, he offers his wealth to anyone who will take his place.
That decision ultimately leads to an unusual triangle involving Chavel, an impostor (Derek Jacobi) passing himself off as Chavel and the sister (Kristin Scott Thomas) of the man who died instead of Chavel.
