‘Good People See Their Dirty Work’

Schneiderman’s laser-like appraisal of what led to the Sacramento massacre underscores an old excuse: “Out of sight, out of mind.” Seven people perished due to the crass indifference of society. Avoidance of involvement starts in childhood. But we are not children. Nor can we run to another room if found wrong. Seven people were maniacally disposed of. Until the time comes when we are made aware that we are not kings in moated castles but citizens in a democracy, we cannot call ourselves civilized. There is a world outside: everyone’s world!
