A Taiwan television crew left for Beijing on Wednesday, defying a Taiwanese government ban on coverage of mainland China. The three-man crew from Taiwan Television Enterprise sallied forth to the mainland Chinese capital without the support of its government-run station management. United Press International quoted an unidentified Taiwan TV executive saying the crew was taking vacation time to visit relatives on the mainland. When asked if the station would broadcast the crew’s reports, the executive said, “It depends. We will see.”
