Montebello : Clerk Successor on Agenda

The Montebello City Council on Monday is expected to appoint a successor to the late City Clerk Andrew Lambo, who died of a heart attack last month.

A former councilman and retired local businessman, the 68-year-old Lambo was first elected city clerk in 1978 and held the postion until his death on Nov. 25, a city spokeswoman said. Lambo was elected to the council in 1964 and served until 1976, when he was defeated by the late former Councilwoman Catherine Hensel. He is survived by his wife Norma, his son Andy (Salty) Lambo, his daughter Jinx Lambo Gould, and three grandchildren.

The city clerk, who is the city’s chief elections official and custodian of city records, is paid $495 a month plus $150 in expenses for the part-time position.
