Baltic Republics

Recently, we heard more of the typical Russian hypocrisy being disseminated by Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev during his visit to India. Phrases such as: “We stand for freedom of nations and self- determination” etc. He pretends to be a liberator of nations. However, in his own empire, the story changes.
The Baltic Republics, whose history dates back a thousand years and whose cultures have always been more Western than Eastern, are now fighting to save their languages. They also are in a struggle to preserve their culture.
Yes, “the Beast from the East” has been doing its best to digest them as quickly as possible, because it finds the world’s opinion unpleasant to its taste.
Save the whales? Why not save the Balts who are an endangered species and on the verge of extinction in their homelands? Will the world turn deaf, once again? Will it, once more, accept the hypocrisy of Russian rhetoric?
