Others Could Use Tardiness Policy
It appears that Millikan High’s tardiness policy (Long Beach section, Nov. 20) is proving quite successful now that the idea has been given some time to garner statistics.
There is too much milling around of students between classes. At Wilson High, I often question suspicious individuals who are either leering into classrooms or hoping to find an open locker door. Most of the time these students keep walking when they see a teacher. Some are defiant and refuse to even give a name. These are the troublemakers for whom the detention area is targeted.
Let’s hope Millikan’s avoidance room continues to be a success so that the rule becomes district policy for all Long Beach high schools.
