BMW Bit a Crack-Up

Share

I don’t think Alice Kahn’s satire of yuppies in “In a Kinder, Gentler Time, BMW Has to Go” (Nov. 14) is an accurate portrayal. The reason I say this is because the “yuppies,” Dirk and Bree, made two big mistakes during their dialogue.

First of all, a BMW is not known as a Beamer; it is properly spelled Bimmer (rhymes with dimmer). Of course, this could be forgiven. After all, even BMW dealers make this mistake often times.

However, any real yuppie would know that the Mercedes 300 turbo diesel wagon is not available in California anymore. Anyway, no real yuppie would be caught with a smoke-stack diesel. The only real wagon is the Volvo 740 Turbo Wagon.
