Ravreby Scores Upset in Tennis
Richard Ravreby of Encinitas handed Guy Fritz of Palm Springs his first loss of the season with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 victory in the men’s 35 final at the sixth Grand Prix Masters tennis championships at Rancho Bernardo Inn Sunday.
Unseeded Bill Bethard of La Jolla upset second-seeded Jim Perley of Coronado, 6-4, 7-5, in the men’s 45 division. Bethard had defeated top-seeded Leland Housman of San Diego in the semifinals.
Sally Huss of Bonsall, the No. 2 seeded player who reached the 1959 Wimbledon semifinals, defeated Charleen Hillebrand of San Pedro, 4-6, 6-0, 6-3.
