A Big Run on Catfish at Vail Lake

For those who like to fish for catfish, the bite at Vail Lake has picked up dramatically, according to a spokesman there.

Clare Bacon, a resident of Encinitas who has fished the Riverside County reservoir twice a week for several years, caught his biggest catfish ever at 23 pounds 8 ounces. William Randall of Los Angeles caught two catfish totaling nearly 35 pounds.
