Making Helmets Mandatory

Share

Having failed to gain acceptance for a mandatory helmet law on the issue of the personal safety of motorcyclists, the government meddlers are now rallying around the cry of the public expense associated with trauma center cases. If that were really such a determinative issue, they ought to ban motorcycle use altogether on our public roads. Helmeted or not, all motorcycle riders are statistically at higher risk of serious injury (or death) than drivers of heavier vehicles.

While they’re at it, why not eliminate compact cars? Not only would our trauma centers be less busy, but our trade deficit with Japan would be ameliorated as well.
