Parents Anonymous Inc., founded in Torrance in 1970, has been awarded a grant of $134,250 by the Hasbro Children’s Foundation of New York.

Parents Anonymous was an early innovator in the use of self-help techniques to assist parents who feared their anger toward their children could cause harm or who may have already harmed their children. The purpose of the 3-year grant is to develop six new state organizations.

States targeted for development are Illinois and New Mexico, where organizational activity has already begun. The organization has 28 state offices, nine regional offices and 1200 chapters, working with about 30,000 families annually. For information, call 410-9732.
