Techniclone International, a biotechnology research and development company, has moved from its Santa Ana headquarters to a new 14,000-square-foot factory in Tustin that has been specially designed for producing monoclonal antibodies, the basic components of high-tech biological drugs.

Techniclone has built the facility to gear up for production of drugs it hopes will be approved for sale by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat various forms of cancer. It is developing the drugs in partnership with American Cyanamid Corp.’s Lederle Laboratories in New Jersey, which is providing research funds.

However, Robert Shaw, Techniclone’s director of operations and marketing, said Techniclone still needs funds for day-to-day operations. To raise additional cash, the company is marketing space in its new manufacturing facility and offering the services of its staff to other biotechnology firms and pharmaceutical firms.
