If a father “left the rearing of the children to (the mother)” and the mother “had no idea” that her 13-year-old son was in a gang and says that the only thing she can do about the shooting is leave it in God’s hands, it is no surprise that the family is dysfunctional. When the decision is made to bring children into the world, both parents are responsible for their rearing.
