A University of Oklahoma athletic department official said the school would hold a news conference today to discuss the National Collegiate Athletic Assn.’s sanctions against the school. The school has reportedly been placed on 3 years’ probation.

Merv Johnson, assistant to Coach Barry Switzer, said by phone that the coaches would have no comment on the report.

Switzer reportedly was out of town.
