National Education Corp., a vocational education and training firm based in Irvine, said Monday that it has completed its previously announced acquisition of Spectrum Interactive, a Bedford, Mass.-based developer of corporate educational programs. Spectrum employs about 200 people and is expected to have sales of about $25 million this year. Under the terms of the agreement, National Education gained control of Spectrum in a stock-swap transaction. The company said it will combine Spectrum’s operations with its Applied Learning unit in Naperville, Ill. National Education operates more than 50 vocational schools and employs about 5,000 people. Last year, the company earned $3.6 million on revenue of $378 million.
