Howard Massey, president of the El Pollo Loco fast-food chain, has resigned to operate his own franchise stores. “After 17 years in the corporate setting, the entrepreneurial side of me said, ‘It’s time to be your own boss,’ ” said Massey, 42.
El Pollo Loco, which offers Mexican-style chicken, is a division of Denny’s restaurants.
Massey said he will operate more than one franchise in Southern California but declined to say how many and where they will be. He will be replaced by Bernard Scott, 54, a 15-year Denny’s employee.
