If you’re holding tickets to the King’s Memphis performances of Aug. 27-28, 1977, you’ll be able to get a full refund--finally. Many of the fans who bought $12.50 or $15 tickets for those shows have never gotten their money back (Elvis Presley died at Graceland on Aug. 16, 1977) and it has been held in a savings account ever since, said Darrell May, director of the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis. In 1982, the Presley estate and the promoters of the concerts filed suit to get the money, but a state Court of Appeals ruled last week that ticket holders have first crack at it. And, said a Tennessee state official, ticket holders will be able to hold onto their ducats after presenting them for refunds--due to their undeniable sentimental value.
