This list is based on information gathered by police from suspects and victims in Asian gang crime in Westminster and Garden Grove. The numbers are estimates, police said.

ASIAN BOYS CLUB: About 50 males, ages 14 to 20. Involved in weapons violations.

COOL BOYS: About 40 males, ages 15 to 22. Involved in auto theft. Members often identified by new-wave haircuts.

DAI & CHI: 25 to 40 males, ages 14 to 20.

G.G. BOYS: 50 to 75 males, ages 13 to 30. Involved in extortion. Members often identified by dot-shaped burn marks, and tattooed “Tatt’s Panthers” or “G.G. Boy.”

HAK KWAI: About 50 males, ages 16 to 32. Involved in murder, robbery, extortion and weapons dealing. Members identified by eagle tattoo on arm.

HUNG PHO: About 150 males, ages 18 to 36. Involved in extortion, robbery, racketeering. Members identified by ship tattoo on chest.

JOHNNY’S PLAYBOYS: About 40 males, ages 14 to 19. Involved in auto burglary.

KING COBRA BOYS: 75 to 100 Laotian males, ages 15 to 20. Involved in weapons violations and extortion. Members identified by “KCB” tattoos, white T-shirts and jeans. Symbol is king cobra, native to Southeast Asia.

LUNS: About 50 males, ages 14 to 22. Involved in extortion, robbery and theft. Members shorter than 5 feet, 4 inches.

MOHAWK BOYS: 50 to 75 males, ages 13 to 18. Involved in weapons violations. Members identified by Mohawk haircuts and denim jackets depicting gang members or Mohawk leader.

POMONA BOYS: 60 to 80 males, ages 14 to 20. Involved in weapons violations.

SANTA ANA BOYS: 35 to 50 males, ages 14 to 20. Involved in weapons violations and extortion. Members wear leather jackets and slicked-back hair.

TAI/DAI (Adult/Youth): 40 to 50 males, ages 16 to 25. Involved in weapons violations.

VIET CHING (Young Viet Boys): More than 100 Vietnamese or Chinese males, older than 15. Involved in extortion, weapons violations and drugs. Members identified by three small burn marks on inner side of left arm.

VIET CRIPS: More than 100 males, ages 15 to 20. Involved in extortion and weapons violations. Members identified by cigarette burns on arms and backs of hands. Number of burns indicates rank in gang.

VIET FROGMEN: More than 100 males, ages 18 to 50. Involved in extortion, weapons violations and drugs. Older members often seek appearance of respectability by becoming established in business community.
