Some Christmas Carols: Worried that off-key caroling would ruin worshipers’ Christmas, the dismayed director of a Swiss church’s amateur choir disbanded his singers. Erwin Mattmann, an organ professor, was so discouraged by the church choir he took over last month that he proposed forming a new choir, the Lucerne newspaper Vaterland reported Wednesday. Insulted singers in the small central Swiss town of Kerns in turn decided they would not sing for Mattmann, and worshipers may have to sing Christmas carols for themselves.
