Eighty Burmese students who fled to remote rebel camps after brutal suppression of a pro-democracy uprising returned home from Thailand aboard two Burmese air force planes. At least 3,000 students and others are believed to remain in camps near the Thai-Burmese border, where they fled after the Sept. 18 military coup by Gen. Saw Maung. The 80 students were repatriated as the result of a plan worked out Dec. 14 during a visit to Burma by Thailand’s army commander, Gen. Chavalit Yongchaiyudh.
