Share

Criminal charges were dismissed Thursday against a Compton car dealer who had been accused of bilking another dealer out of nearly $28,000 by issuing bad checks to cover the purchase of a Volvo.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Steven A. Sowders said the case was dismissed in Compton Municipal Court after Brett Mitchell and his wife Elaine, both 30, agreed to make restitution to Beverly Hills Auto Imports in Hollywood.

Brett Mitchell, recently honored as “young entrepreneur of the year” by the Small Business Administration, was charged Dec. 7 with grand theft. He and his wife were also charged with two counts each of issuing bad checks.
