Raise A Stanza Scores Half-Length Win at Santa Anita
Raise A Stanza used a strong finish Thursday to win the $81,950 San Miguel Stakes by a half-length over Double Quick before a crowd of 18,770 at Santa Anita.
Raise A Stanza, ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye, covered 6 furlongs in 1:09 4/5 and paid $15.60, $5.20 and $3.40.
Double Quick, the 9-5 favorite ridden by Laffit Pincay, finished a neck ahead of Movinglikeawinner and paid $3.40 and $2.60.
Movinglikeawinner, ridden by Alex Solis, was 2 1/4 lengths ahead of Playmeonemoretime at the wire and paid $3.60 to show.
Bet on the Blurr, a 19-1 longshot, took a big early lead. When Bet on the Blurr faded, Double Quick moved to the front but was overtaken by Raise A Stanza in the late going.
