UC Irvine Women Are Defeated in Basketball

Tracey Earley scored 20 points, including a key layup with 1 minute 38 seconds left, as George Washington (2-6) defeated UC Irvine, 53-48, Friday in a nonconference women’s basketball game at Irvine.

George Washington led by 10 most of the game, but the Anteaters (2-7) tied the score, 48-48, on a layup by Jeanine Hobbs with 2:56 left. But Karin Vandelund hit a free throw and Earley scored to give George Washington a 51-48 lead.

Kathy Lizarraga scored 23 points and Natasha Parks 16 for Irvine.
