Waves Beat Hartford in Las Vegas, 82-62

LAS VEGAS —
Dexter Howard scored 26 points Friday night to lead Pepperdine to an 82-62 victory over Hartford.
The event is called the UNLV Holiday tournament, but the format was changed to accommodate a Big West Conference game between Nevada Las Vegas and San Jose State on TV, causing Columbia to drop out. Pepperdine lost to UNLV in the first round.
Pepperdine (8-5) trailed Hartford (4-5) early in the first half but went ahead, 32-27, at halftime after a 14-2 run.
The Waves then scored the first 6 points of the second half for an 11-point lead.
Casey Crawford had a game-high 11 rebounds for the Waves and freshman guard Rick Welch scored 11 points.
Pepperdine will play host to North Carolina next Tuesday night.
