Digital Equipment Corp. will announce several new personal computers and workstations next week, including one using a chip developed by MIPS Computer Inc. The announcement will mark a new stage in Digital’s desktop strategy, long the weakest link in the company’s product line. Littleton, Mass.-based Digital left the PC market several years ago after the failure of its Rainbow product.
