3rd Man Follows Hirohito in Death

TOKYO — An 81-year-old man hanged himself from his kitchen door today, becoming the third elderly man to respect tradition and follow Emperor Hirohito into death.
“Please try to understand the spirit of my generation,” the man said in a note found near his body. Two other men have hanged themselves in the name of Hirohito since he died last week of intestinal cancer at age 87.
